چکیده

where M= 1.99.1033 g is the sun’s mass, R= 6.g6.10’0 cm its radius, and G= 6.6710 the gravitational constant. A similar energy was set free when the sun was assembled from interstellar gas or dust in the dim past; actually somewhat more, because most of the sun’s material is located closer to its center, and therefore has a numerically larger potential energy. One-half of the energy set free is transformed into kinetic energy according to the wellknown virial theorem of mechanics. This will permit us later to estimate the temperature in the sun. The other half of the potential energy is radiated away. We known that at present the sun radiates

The dependence of the carbon and oxygen production in stars on the 3α rate is investigated by varying the energy of the 0 + 2-state of 12 C and determining the resulting yields of a selection of low-, intermediate-mass and massive stars. The yields are obtained from modern stellar evolution computations which are following the supernova explosion of massive stars, and considering in detail the ...

C and O production on the 3 α rate

We investigate the dependence of the carbon and oxygen production in stars on the 3α rate by varying the energy of the 0 + 2-state of 12 C and determine the resulting yields for a selection of low-mass, intermediate-mass, and massive stars. The yields are obtained using modern stellar evolution codes that follow the entire evolution of massive stars, including the supernova explosion, and consi...

Production of high-energy μ neutrinos from young neutron stars

Young, rapidly rotating neutron stars could accelerate protons to energies of ∼ 1 PeV close to the stellar surface, which scatter with x-rays from the stellar surface through the ∆ resonance and produce pions. The pions subsequently decay to produce muon neutrinos. We find that the energy spectrum of muon neutrinos consists of a sharp rise at ∼ 50 TeV, corresponding to the onset of the resonanc...

Constraints on the Production of Ultra-High-Energy Cosmic Rays by Isolated Neutron Stars

The energetics, spectrum, and composition of cosmic rays with energies below ∼ 10 eV are fairly well explained by models involving supernova shocks. In contrast, no widely accepted theory exists for the origin of ultra-high energy cosmic rays (UHECRS), which have energies above 10 eV. Instead of proposing a specific model, here we place strong constraints on any model of UHECRS involving isolat...

Strangeness Production in Neutron Stars

Production of strange quarks in neutron stars is investigated in this work. Three cases, one in which the energy and neutrinos produced in the strangeness production reactions are retained in the reaction region, second in which the neutrinos are allowed to escape the reaction region but the energy is retained and the third in which both the energy and neutrinos escape the reaction region are c...
